Five points to make a good campaign from the fast fashion campaigner Venetia La Manna (taken from Wednesday's lecturer talk sessions at Norwich University of Arts).
· Do research on the subject and issues.
· Ask what is the aim of the campaign?
· Match action to message and vice versa.
· What skills and knowledge do you need and what can you learn or fulfil from someone, who can contribute with their skillset?
· Organise it in an accessible, informative, and fun way to make it powerful.
I chose Venetia La Manna fast-fashion campaigner because I relate to the frustrations of the facts in the fast fashion industry, hidden behind gigantic capitalistic profit makers. I am truly amazed by her approach to delivering fact-full information in a fun and easily digestible way to interested consumers seeking validated information from fair sources such as Venetia.
Venetia has worked in TV, radio, and podcasting with content creation, presenting, and being a big part of social media.
She is a valuable activist whose approach is far from boring and capturing. Something, I would like to learn to do as well.
Her campaigns run through and through fast fashion subjects and the importance of stopping this industry from contributing to the disasters across the World and inequality of the workers.
This subject, on its own, is valuable to any of us, who cares enough about, what Planet we are creating for future generations.
Her work and relentless approach organizing a community is one to watch and learn from.
Venetia is highlighting the importance of collective support of Unions and climate justice. Her activism stands for moving towards better policies, taking responsibility, and calling out wrong-doings.
She has 292K followers on Instagram if you want to find out more of her fair fashion campaigns and some hectic facts! @venetialamanna
